"The work of one Ryan
Hood is assembled into the form he likes to dub Hwreckit. And dub
might be the right word at times with his dubby bass sounds that fuel
the IDM synth noodlings and techno beats. His sound is at once
Orbital and other times could be almost casio-core but then its
shined up in such a way that you’re never sure what direction
it’ll take. While oftentimes that would lead you astray,
Hwreckit guides you down this glorious pathway of enlightened
techno-cum-IDM in an almost abstract dance fashion; meanwhile the
vocals could have been lifted from any ‘90’s industrial
album from the likes of Psychopomps, Leaetherstrip, or perhaps one of
cEvin Key’s projects. “devices.for.crisis” makes
for not just great music but truly inspires especially on
“anti.chorus”, which despite its name is quite addictive.
How invigorating!"
